Michael Ryno is a Certified Professional Photographer (“CPP”) living in beautiful Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Michael first purchased a DSLR camera in 2016 and became a member of Lone Tree Photography Club two months later. He became the club’s Vice President in 2019 and later served as President in 2020-2021. He joined Professional Photographers of America (“PPA”) and Professional Photographers of Colorado (“PPC”) in January of 2020. He served on the PPC Board as Secretary in 2020-2021 and was named President in 2022 – Present.
Michael earned PPA’s prestigious Certified Professional Photographer designation in 2022 and later that year resigned from his long-time career in corporate banking to pursue his passion for photography full time. Michael has developed exceptional portrait photography skills though conferences and workshops he has attended, together with hands on experience with clients he has photographed. These skills have helped him to receive merits and imaging excellence awards through PPA image competitions.

Great portrait images benefit from high quality cameras, together with professional grade lenses. Michael uses a Nikon Z7-2 mirrorless camera and a Nikon D850 DSLR camera along with very high-quality lenses. Good lighting is also essential to great portrait images and Michael has a talent for effectively using natural light when conditions are favorable. He also utilizes professional quality off-camera lights and various modifiers to provide ideal controlled lighting for indoor studio sessions as well as outdoor settings. Michael utilizes tethering for indoor studio sessions, allowing the client to see images on a high-quality monitor as they are being taken.
Michael is also highly skilled at post processing with the use of editing software including Capture One and Photoshop. Subtle use of these tools and specialized retouching techniques can bring out the best in professional portrait images.
